Everyone has a different level of awareness when driving. Some have the tendency to be involved in accidents, others are careful drivers.

During driving have you ever experience these scenarios?

a) Being honk or tailgate by drivers on the fast lane.

b) Being flash with high beam.

If you have, maybe there is something wrong with your driving style. Whatever it maybe, the most important thing to remember is that you have to ensure that your movement can be predicted by other drivers. Here are some tips that can practice:

1. Driving consistently
It doesn’t matter if you are driving fast or slow as long as it is in a consistence pace. By driving consistently it helps other drivers to predict your movement. Inconsistent driving will irritate other drivers because they have to be on extra look out to what you are going to do and it is a strong factor to accidents.

2. The right speed limit
When driving on the highway, as drivers, we must be aware of the speed limit. Driving in the fast lane means that one must drive about 90 – 110km/h, if you are not interested to be in the same speed with other drivers it is advisable to move to the middle or to the left lane.
When changing lane, signal is important so that other drivers can give way so that you are able to change lane smoothly. Avoid changing lane abruptly. High beam  can only be used as signal to the driver in front of you if you want him / her to give way, Doing it continuously is rude and can annoy the driver. Try to it once and lapse before doing it again.

3. Use side mirror.
The usage of side mirrors is to help drivers to be aware of blind spot before overtaking other vehicles. This is because, because maybe the vehicles behind you are moving fast. If they are, give ways and continue driving on the right lane once the vehicle has passed you.

4. Using signal light
Help other drivers to predict your next move. And any abrupt action can be avoided.

5. Break slowly
If you needed to break, break slowly. Provide early warning to the driver behind you. Try to drive in a distance between you and the car in front of you so that any emergency break is required you will have ample time to break.

6. Accelerate on time
Accelerate at the appropriate place such as when the traffic light turn green or when it is your turn at the stop sign. By doing so it helps to smooth the traffic.

7. Stop at the appropriate place.
Avoid going over the line at a junction with limited spacing, so that it would not be a hassle for other drivers at the opposite lane. By going over the line the signal detector maybe can’t detect you. Do not stop at the side of the road without giving the other drivers an early notice.

8. Proper use of Hazard light
As a reminder, hazard light should be used when a vehicle is at stop not during moving and it should not be used during the rain. When using hazard light in the rain your movement is limited because your won’t be able to signal either left or right thus making it hard for other drivers to  predict your movement.
