Spilled Wine on Carpet
For wine stains on carpets, take some paper towels immediately after the spill and dab on the area to absorb as much out of the carpet as possible. Before the wine dries out, cover the area with salt and the salt will soak up the wine. After the salt and wine have dried out, simply use a vacuum cleaner to vacuum away the salt.
Pet Urine on Mattress
Sometimes pets can do annoying things like peeing on the mattress. If your dog does decide to, for some reason, pee on your mattress, can immediately use paper towels to absorb as much of the urine as possible. After the area is relatively dry, mix one part vinegar with one part water and dab the solution over the affected area.
After dabbing with the solution, cover the affected area with the solution, cover the affected area with baking soda before mixing a quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide with a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid. Pour the solution over the baking soda and gently scrub the area. Leave the mattress alone for 15minutes before using a clean cloth to remove the solution. Leave the mattress out to dry.
Cleaning Bathroom Tiles
Soap scum is aptly named as it is so difficult to clean. However, there is an easy way to clean the soap scum off your bathroom tiles. All you need is to mix one part salt, one part baking soda and one part vinegar. Dip a sponge into the mixture and clean the tiles. To freshen up the bathroom and to give the tiles a shine, wipe the tiles with lemon juice.
Cleaning Glass on Oven Door and Racks
Roasting meat is the easy part and the hassle comes when you need to clean the oven racks and glass door of all the mess that comes from the roast. To clean the glass on the oven door, make a paste from water and baking soda. Apply the paste on the glass and leave it for about 10 to 15 minutes. Simply rinse the paste off with water.
For the oven racks, soak the racks overnight in a tub of hot water mixed with dishwashing liquid. Scrub the racks in the morning.
Pots and Pans
Easier way to remove the grime from the pan is to add a couple of tablespoons of baking soda to your dishwashing liquid and clean. The mixture will easily remove the stubborn grime. When the pan is still warm, pour some carbonated water and that will prevent stuff from sticking on the pans.
Grease from Stovetops
To remove the grease from the stovetop, spray vinegar over the stovetop. Leave the vinegar on for few minutes before wiping it off with warm water. By adding baking soda on a moist sponge and use the sponge to clean the stovetops. This would usually remove the grease with ease.
Smelly Shoes
To remove odours from shoes, put some baking soda into a stocking and leaving it overnight. The odour should be gone by the morning.
Fresh Paint Smell
A fresh coat of paint will brighten up any room but it will also leave behind a strong smell. To remove the smell, place a bowl of vinegar or cut onion in water for about a day in the enclosed room. After that, simply air the room to completely remove the smell. Alternatively, a bucket of crushed charcoal with some wet paper towels in the room overnight.
